COMIC WORKSHOP EXHIBITION
In a comic workshop with Malvīne Štaus, which took place at the Goethe Institute in Riga in February, participants reflected on parallel realities. They focused on the Soviet legacy and what each of them wants to take with them to their vision of the future. With what material and immaterial resources is this legacy being transmitted?
We collected objects, smells, feelings, materials, dreams, and stories and interrelated them to create new perspectives on our pasts and our futures. The medium of comics and visual storytelling provided us with the space to do this.
In the workshop, we worked both collaboratively and individually, experimenting with drawings, words, objects, and stories. Here, international participants Alberta Ziemele, Betija Jakaite, Cengiz Ergüleç, Dagnis Stikāns, Ella-Mai Matsina, Ieva Raudsepa, Karīna Volbeta, Ksenija Tarasova, Lauma Lejēja, Mariya Glinska, Mārtiņš Zutis, Sofia Estella Donga, Viktorija Semjonova, Viktorija Valdmane, and Zlata Novykova share their findings.
Also, take a look at the accompanying book, which offers even further perspectives.
Exhibition opening: Wednesday, April 23, at 6 p.m.
The entrance to exhibition is free.
Location: Goethe Institute, Marijas Street 13 k-1.
