Bolatta Silis-Høegh // KAAVIIAARNEQ · CYCLE

Bolatta Silis-Høegh exhibition KAAVIIAARNEQ · CYCLE in Berga Bazars to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the Nordic Council of Ministers’ Office in Latvia
Bolatta Silis-Høegh, an Inuk/Kalaaleq-Latvian artist, is exhibiting KAAVIIAARNEQ° CYCLE from April 30 to May 17, 2026, in Berga Bazars in a specially dedicated space next to the Nordic Council of Ministers’ Office in Latvia.

In addition to expressing and showcasing the organisation’s values and commitment to the public’s education, development and well-being while highlighting Nordic-Baltic ties, the Nordic Council of Ministers’ Office in Latvia is commemorating its 35th anniversary with an art exhibition.

Bolatta Silis-Høegh’s paintings and installations are welcoming visitors into a deeply personal space, with her own experiences and vulnerability as the starting point for a retelling of universal resilience.

Exhibition KAAVIIAARNEQ · CYCLE provides a space to mirror and recognize how different cycles can help with our own internal struggles, facilitating a dialogue about traumas and about shaping the communities we deserve. The title refers to the cycles of – the woman, the year and life itself that are at the heart of the artist’s practice. The cycle culminates when we are empowered to self-express, challenge exploitative hierarchies and forge new paths ahead as individuals, as people and as societies. This in turn opens up avenues for new realizations and allows each cycle to begin anew.

Building on the artist’s previous work centred on identity, feminism and power dynamics, Silis-Høegh expresses an emotional progression and intellectual process of healing and growth. For Silis-Høegh, it began with a series of realizations of destructive patterns of marginalization spanning colonization, gender inequality and art.
